ANNUAL REPORT 2023

Distinguished Chief Mr Mithun M. Rai, Alumnus, General Secretary, KPCC, Guest of Honour,Dr Ajay R. Kamath, Alumnus, HOD of Ophthalmology, KMC, Mangalore,  Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto S.J, Rector, St. Aloysius Institutions, who is presiding over today’s function, well-wishers of this Institution, our proud parents, respected members of the teaching and non-teaching fraternity , ladies and gentlemen, media persons and my dear students, it is my proud privilege to present the 143rd  Annual Report of this historic educational Institution. 

            596 students elected Master Vivaan K. Attavaras the SPL, Kum. SinchanaSanthoshKumar  as the ASPL and Master Abel RaunakTatpatias the Secretary to the students’council for the year 2023–2024.

.

RESULTS:

Our students achieved 97.35% overall results in the April 2023 S.S.L.C. examination.  VivalReevaDSouza of English Medium toppedwith 615 marks, 98.47% and Preethi Ravi Rathod of Kannada Medium topped with 552 marks, 88.3%.   We appreciate the sincere efforts of the students, the hard work of our teachers and the constant support of the parents and the management.

  • Mrs Sheryl Prabhu English and Social Science teacher retired after serving for 26years.

I wish to place on record our sincere gratitude for the long years of service they rendered in this institution.

STAFF IN SERVICE PROGRAM AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • MrLancyDSouza attended the departmental training for Resource Persons inteaching 1st Language English.  Under his leadership the Resource Persons of 1st Language English of Dakshina Kannada District prepared Learning Material to improve the quality of results in S.S.L.C. Exam.
  • Mr JohnChandran:   Resource Person at International Cultural Jamboree held at Moodbidri.V4 news achievement Award 2023, in memory of Sri BhavaniShankerKunder in the field of Art and Cartoon.  Vocational Excellence Award 2023 in the field of Art from Rotary Club of Mangalore..
  • Mr  PraveenD. Monteiro:Attended workshop onS.S.L.C. Second Language Kannada organised by the department of School Education. 
  • Mrs Chris Evert Dsouza and MrsFelcy pinto attended JESCOL 2,  atAshirvad  Bangalore  from 21st  to 23rd  Aug 2023.

            Our students not only excel academically, but also in the field of Sports & Games.  We at St Aloysius believe in the all-round developmentof personality.  Along with  fitness of the mind, fitness of the body is also given due importance.     Mr Noel Menezes is the guiding force behind the individual and team achievements of our students.

10. Karate:-.

AnanyaMagishettar, Trisha Shetty, ManvithaShetty, BhavishaTaluk level participants.  AnanyaMagishettarparticipated  inDistrict level.

11.Weightlifting: AdshaDSouza participated at State level and bagged Bronze under Sub Junior Category.

CLUBS :

MrCamilRebello meticulously keeps track of all club events and records the same.  He is the co-ordinator of all clubs.

N.C.C. Air Wing

  • 35 Cadets successfully completed Annual training camp  (ATC) at St Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor.Our school won the overall championship with best Contingent in Drill and 1st in Group Dance.
  • Flight Sergeant Joel Lester DSouza received 1st place and Cdt. Sergeant ArolSequeira  2nd place in  Best Cadet category and also individual Drill test.  CorporalShaylon Shawn DSouza received 1st place in Individual written test and L.F.C. ArwinDeolCordeiro  3rd place. 
  • Flight sergeant Joel Lester Dsouza completed IGC and received 2nd place in Best Cadet Category of Karnataka and Goa Directorate.
  • Corporal Shaylon Shawn Dsouza and Cadet Fayon Rodrigues attended Pre-IGC camps.
  • 15 cadets got the chance to fly Aircraft simulation with commanding officer Wing commander Shishu Paul.
  • PuneetSagarAbhiyan, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Plogging, Beach cleaning, Plantation drive, International Yoga Day, March Past and Silent drill performed during the Sports Day are the few important activities.

The N.C.C Air Wing Troop is guided by Associate N.C.C Officer MrSunil Lobo.

N.C.C. Navy

 Guided by Associate NCC  Officer Diana Goveas

 Conducted World Environment Day, International yoga day, Campus cleaning, tree plantation.As a part of World Environment Day 20 cadets had participated in the UDAAN program organised by NCC Alumini Association at St Aloysius College. An orientation programme was organised for the St Aloysius College and High School cadets, on Indian Navy and INS MAKAR SHIP.42 cadet had participated in the Annual Training Camp held at Dr. V.S Acharya Scouts and Guides Training Centre, Manipal, and secured II prize in  skit competition,Cadets  also participated in “AsuvuRashtraSamarpitha” programme at War Memorial,  Kadriorganised to commemorate the sacrifice of the soldiers in the Mumbai attack of 26-11-2008.

‘LOYOLA’ Scouts

Under the guidance of  Mr Praveen  D. Monteiro, Roy Joshua Rego  completed his TritiyaSopan exam. YashSunil Kumar, Roy Joshua Rego andDakshith B.M.participated in the Jota Joti program.  ROY Joshua Rego and Devon Patra attended district level camporee at JUNIOR COLLEGE VITTAL.  9 students attended “Rekindling the Patriotism” program organized by Rotaract Club Hill Side and also attended Rotary youth leadership program organised by Lions International Dist 317D and BharathScouts and Guides DK District .

‘JESUITS’ ScienceAcademy

The club has organized school level science model competition.Gordon Sartho and Darshil bagged 1st place in Science Model Competition organized by Padua P.U. College.They are constantly guided by Mrs Edna Mascarenhas and MrsNathashaDSouza.

‘T.P.KAILASAM’ Dramatic Association

This club is actively functioning under the guidance of MrsBharathi N. K.    A skit in Kannada titled ‘’ was staged on the occasion of the ‘Feast of our Patron’.  Our students took part in the Kannada Rajyotsava- SwarnaSambrama procession organized by the Education Department.

‘SEDIYAPU KRISHNA BHAT’  KannadaSahityaSangha

Under the guidance of Mr Praveen D. Monteiro students actively participated in various competitions like extempore, handwriting,essay and enacted several plays and dramas on various school programmes.  Lakshmi and Shwethabagged second place in “ChinthanaManthana”  organized by SharadaVidyalaya.

BERCHMANS’ CLC& Altar Boys Club

Novena prayers were offered on the eve of St Aloysius Gonzaga, St Ignatius of Loyola and the feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary.  The members serve as Altar Boys at the Holy Eucharist Mass celebrated during the weekdays and the feast days.  Br Elson S. J. from Loyola Pre-Novitiate gave spiritual guidance to the students.  They are motivated by MrsLinet Mathias 

‘MID TOWN’ Interact Club

Under the guidance of Rotary Midtown Mangalore an Interact installation ceremony was held and also members visited ‘White Dove’ an old age home and presented a program which was appreciated by allApart from this Interact Cub office bearers attended the leadership camp organised by rotary Middown Mangalore.  Club members are guided by Mr Praveen Cutinha. 

‘NEHRU’ Philatelic Club

43 students of this club participated in the DeenDayalSparshYojana, a Philately Scholarship exam.  MohdFaheezSheeyan ,Dhruva Y Shetty,  AnanyaMagishettar and Abhish H Bangera have qualified for the second  round and have submitted their project.  They are motivated by MrsSonal Lobo and MrsJovitaDSouza.

ANTONIO’S’ Art Club

Art club organized Drawing Competitions on the feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga and Independence Day celebrations.

Students achievements:

  • Sameeksha won 1st place in District  Level Art Competition conducted by Shakthi School and 2nd place in KalkuraPrathishtana, Mangalore Smart City Art Competition and also won special Appreciation Award at UdayavaniChinnaraBanna.
  • Apeksha second place in Art Fest Competition and ChinnaraBanna special recognition award.
  • Sanjana&Pratheek 1st place in Rangoli Competition ‘SPARKLE’ organized by Padua College
  • Padma  first place in District Level Rangoli competition organized by Dakshina Kannada district Mobile Retailers Association.
  • Shannon and Tushar2nd place in clay modeling organized by Padua College.
  • Maneesh Raj bagged first place in Soap carving competition organized by SharadaVidyalaya and bagged second place in “Toy making” in District Level “Kala Utsav”.
  • Rohan Lobo and Ian Pinto  first place in ‘Agnathon’ Aquarium design contest organized by St Agnes P.U. College.
  • Poorvi and Adithi V. Rao first in Collage competition organized by Padua College and SharadaVidyalaya.
  • Pavan first place in Pre-Unique face painting competition organized by St Aloysius P.U. College.
  • Chinmayi2nd place in Drawing competition at“Hobali” PrathibhaKaranji
  • Pradyumna won First place in Face Painting at Padua College, first in Poster making organized by D.K. Dist., Second in ‘National Voters Day’s  Poster Design contest. 

Mr John Chandran trains, guides and motivates young artist, to explore their hidden artistic and

creative ability.

‘ALOYSIAN’ L.T.S. (Leadership Training Service)

A Leadership Training programme was addressed by MrManjunath D, HRD Trainer.  14 students participated in the SAPMUN program held at St Aloysius P. U. College.CimanthaTauro awardedthe Best Journalist &AyishaAfla titled  as “Verbal Mentions” delegate. An outlook on leadership is brought about by MrsFelcyLobo and MrsSunithaPais.

PANDURANGA PAI’ Eco Club

They celebrated “Environment Day” in school.  Saplings were planted at light house near Tagore Park.    Students participated in the forest conservation project at Kanthavaraunder the guidance of Vana Charitable Trust and MrJeith Milan.  Students were taken to St Aloysius biotechnology lab and ‘Alvana’ center for Sustainable Bio-diversity in our campus.Painting of pots and cleanliness drive carried out in the school.

These are guided by Mrs Edna Mascarenhas and Miss Ivy Anjali DSouza.

‘IGNATIAN’ Gavel Club

They compare programs on various school events under the guidance of MrsJovitaDsouza.

Naomi Mascarenhas has secured first place and AnnaDCosta bagged 3rdin English Elocution organized by Raga Taranga,Naomi Mascarenhas bagged first in turn coat competition held by  St Aloysius PU college, second in “Hobali” PratibaKaranji.

CimanthaTauro, AyishaAflah  andVivan K Attavar has secured third place in maze running competition organisedby St Aloysius PU college.

Gordon Sarthoand CimanthaTauro 1st place in cross word puzzle andalso CimanthaTauro first place in building a story using a proverb inCanara footprints.

‘GONZAGA’ Consumer Club

Information about food adulteration, awareness on consumer rights, MRP, Hallmarkwere explained during the meetings.  Ms Ivy Anjali DSouza and MrsVinayashreeCo-coordinates the club.     

‘ETHEL PRABHU’ Quiz Club

The Club is functioning under the guidance of Mrs  Chris Evert DSouzaand MrsSonal Lobo.  MohdFaheezSheeyan and Arwin Neil DSouza won 1st place in Hobali level PratibhaKaranjiCompetiton .  1st place in ‘Sparkle’ inter school Competition at Padua P.U. College.Tushar and AmanGupta won 3rd place at ShardadaVidyalaya.Arwin Neil DSouza participated in RajyotsavaState level quiz competition and was among the top 3.  Gordon Sartho and Tushar K bagged 3rd placein Prajavani Quiz Zonal level.

‘STEVE JOBS’  I.T Club

Coding, video editing and animation are regularly demonstrated. Students of Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu, conducted a session for the club members in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Adobe Premier Pro.

  • Prince Alishand  KoushikBhat of class 8th were selected for  10 days training camp Catch Them Young – 2023 organised by Infosys at Mudipu. 
  • “Footprints” organized by Canara College, Sushmitha N. bagged first place andVaishali K. bagged secondplace in the web designing.
  • Aaditya S. Rao 2nd place in Video Editing -Reels organized by Padua P.U. College.

Creative minds of MrsLinet Mathias and MrsSunithaPais,  the animators have picturized today’sAnnual Report with videos and clippings and the gifted studentsAnvithRamprasad, Aaditya S. Rao, Prithvi D.  Suvarna andArmanShaikUmmarhave assisted them.

‘MELODY’ Choir CLUB

MrsRenny Vas guides the members of the melody choir club. 

  • Adhishree –Won the 1st place in folk singing State Level “Kala Ustav” competition and qualified for National level which will be held in Delhi.  1stplace inTaluk level PrathibhaKaranji and qualified for District level,2nd place in Carnatic classical music organized by Raga Taranga. 
  • AyushPrem -Secured First place in Pre-Unique Eastern singing, Bhakthigeetheorganized by Vishwa Karma Kala Parishad , ISKON, SarvajanikaGaneshotsavaSamithi, Sri Kshetra Siddhi Vinayaka Temple, Besant old student Association and secured second place in  Raga Taranga SugamaSangeetha and Madhurimaorganized by St Agnes College.
  • Our Melody Group won first place in  folkSinging organized byPadua P.U. College, Patriotic singing organized by Raga Taranga and Patriotic singing organized by Sharada P.U. College.
  • Nidhi Ganesh and AyushPremparticipated in DaijiAntakshari and qualified for the second round.

‘ST ALOYSIUS’ College Band

Having its own legacy from past 113 years  the band performed at  various school functions and events.  Band performance was also held at National Level Konkani program atKalangan, Mangalore.  The band master is Mr J.R. Furtado and the coordinator is Mr Praveen D.Monteiro

‘BEATS N STEPS’ Dance Club

Engaging in Gonzaga and Loyola feast celebrations and Teachers’ Day programs, our dance team has added vibrancy to school events.The members of the club secured third place in the HobaliPrathibhaKaranji contest.  Girls of the clubclaimed first prize in folk dance, while the boys secured second place in filmy dance in ‘Sparkle’ event conducted by Padua P.U.College.  Second place in folk dancein the Preunique event, conducted by St Aloysius P.U. College, first prize in dance at Raghatranga, second place in filmy dance at Canara Footprints.The club is co-ordinated by MrsShalmaSaldanha and MrsChris Evert D’Souza

ANGELO MAFFAI’ Konkani Club

The Club encourages students to develop their skills related to Konkani language by guiding them through various ways.  They are encouraged to participate in various Poetry sessions, speech and elocutions. Eldon RishonDSouza participated in ‘BiriBiriPaavs’ poetry recitation competition organised by Daijiworld TV.   Lakshmi Bhavibagged first and CianaVaz received second in Poetry writing competition at Padua College.  This Club is co-ordinated by MrsFelcyLobo.

‘KAIRANNA’ Health Club

Health training sessions are held for the members. Mr Noel Menezes and Mr Praveen Cutinhaare the Club Co-ordinators

Guitar & Keyboard

The music teacher Mr Vijay Moras guides our students in the learning of instruments like Guitar & Keyboard along with musical notations.

Our students excelled in various co-curricular activities and the Champions at ‘Sparkle’ inter school competition organized by Padua P.U. College and second runner up at “Sharada ACARPEXPO 2023” organized by Sharada P.U. College.

UNIQUE PROGRAMMES

  • The Investiture ceremony forming a new ‘student cabinet’ was carried out.
  • Drug Abuse Prevention program was conducted. 
  • An intra-school ‘PrathibhaKalotsava’  was held to our students to exhibit their talents in various aspects like – Fancy Dress, Bhartanatyam, Gazal, Folk song, Mimicry, Bhavadgeethe, Arabic Patana and Elocution.
  • To recognize the hardwork and dedication of our retired staffMrFrancis Mascarenhas and Mrs Sheryl Prabhu, a farewell programme was organized by the students and staff.
  • In order to shed light on mobile and drug addiction, a session on “mental Health Disorder and Measures”  wasorganised.
  • Musical Day “Symphony” for ‘peace and Harmony’ was held.  Many students participated and exhibited their talents.
  • On the occasion of children’s day the staff decided to enthrall the children with a stage programme. Apart from dance, song and a skit, a cricket match was organized.
  • MrVrijesh N. G., Alumnus, Karnataka State Cricket Player, was the chief guest on the Sports Day for the inaugural ceremony and MrRudolf Ivor Lobo, Alumnus, Social Worker was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The students exhibited their skills in athletics, Mass Drill and March Past.
  • With a dream of creating awareness about the different Career opportunities a Career Guidance programme was conducted for 10thstd students.  Prof Ronald Pinto was the resource person.
  • ‘KarnatakaSwarnaSambrama’  – an inter school competiton was conducted for class 6th and 7th standard Kannada Medium students of our District.
  • For a breath of fresh air, to relax and enjoy healthy companionship , A one day Picnic to Vismaya Water Amusement Park, Kannur, Kerala was conducted for std 10th on the 13thof December.

P.T.A.

Parents, work together as equals towards a common objective of enhancing not only the child’slearning, development and well-being but are also the pillar and strength of the school. Under theleadership of MrSanthosh Kumar, the Vice president and the executive members celebrated Teacher’sDay with games, entertainment and a sumptuous dinner.Their presence and constant support on Sports day and School day is endearing and steadfast.

My gratitude goes out to all those who are present here today to share our joy and to be a part

of the ongoing process of education. We are committed towards moulding our students as “peoplefor others” who will grow into young men and women. We look up to our patron, St. Aloysius, whostands tall as a supreme example of selfless service and we thank Almighty God for all His gifts,graces and blessings.
