ANNUAL REPORT 2022
Distinguished Chief guest Mr Sunil Kunder, Alumnus, Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto S.J, Rector, St. Aloysius Institutions, who is presiding over today’s function, well wishers of this Institution, our proud parents, respected members of the teaching and non-teaching fraternity, ladies and gentlemen, media persons and my dear students, it is my proud privilege to present the 142nd Annual report of this historic educational Institution.
583 students elected Master Reesh R. as the SPL, Kum. Vival DSouza as the ASPL and Master Mohammed Rehan as the Secretary to the students’council for the year 2022–2023.
RESULTS:
Our students achieved 95% in the April 2022 S.S.L.C. examination. Samrudh S. of English Medium topped with 623, 99.7% and Ananya H. K. of Kannada Medium topped with 589, 94.2%.
We appreciate the sincere efforts of the students, the hard work of our teachers and the constant support of the parents, and the management.

STAFF SERVICE :
- Mr Lancy DSouza and Mr John I. Chandran attended the JESCOL -2 programme at Ashirwad, Bangalore from 22nd August to 24th August 2022.
- On the occasion of 25th death anniversary of St Mother Theresa, essay competition was organized and in the elders open to all category Mrs Felcy Lobo our teacher received 3rd prize.
- SPORTS & GAMES
Our students not only excel academically, but also on the field. We at St. Aloysius believe in an all round personality development. Along with the fitness of the mind, the fitness of the body is also put to the test. Mr Noel Menezes is the guiding force behind the individual and team achievement of our students.

CLUBS :
Mr Camil Rebello meticulously keeps a track of all club events and records the same. He is the co-ordinator of all clubs.
N.C.C. Air Wing
- International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21-06-2022.
- 30 Cadets successfully completed Annual training camp at St Joseph’s Engineering College Vamanoor.
- Cdt Vivaan K. Attavar completed Pre-RDC
- Cdt Lestol Pinto and Cdt Ethan Miranda attended “Ek Bharath Shresht Bharath” camp at Mysore and won the gold medal.
- Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beach cleaning activities conducted.
- Plantation drive go green around taking care of 25 plants for 5 years in the view of N.C.C. Rising day.
- March Past and Silent drill performed during the Sports Day.
- Plogging Activity – Cleanliness Drive in our campus.

The following activities were conducted during the academic year 2022-23
- World Environment day
- International Yoga Day
- On account fo Puneeth Sagar Abhiyan Beach cleaning activity was conducted near Bengre beach on 26th September.
- On account of Rashtriya Ektha Divas cadets took pledge on 31st October.
- Annual Training Camp was conducted by 5 Kar Naval Unit at St. Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor on 14th August to 21st August. 38 cadets attended.
- P.O. Cadet Diganth V.S. got 2nd Best Cadet prize,
- 1st place in Marathan Run
- August 15th – Marching was done on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Independence Day celebration.
- 5 Kar Naval Unit conducted Poster making competition
- In Essay writing competition. –
- EBSB AERO space camp 2022 was held at Bangalore 09-10-22 to 18-10-22. P.O. Cadet Harshal Shetty attended the camp.
- CATC camp was conducted by 6 KAR NU NCC, at MIT Manipal. 5 cadets attended the camp from 30-11-22 to 07-12-2022.
The NCC Navy troop is guided by Associate NCC Officer, T/O Diana Nayana Goveas.
‘LOYOLA’ Scouts

Club activities of the Loyola scouts
Our LOYOLA SCOUTS celebrating its glorious 102 years of existence in our school. Ours is a first scout troop in entire Dakshina Kannada district. Scouts students attended Several online awareness programs regarding the covid-19 prevention and maintaining health and hygiene and CPR during heart attacks. Online meetings were for scouts masters and students. Online badge work courses introduced. Online singing, drawing and other activities conducted by the local and district association of Bharath scouts and guides.
Along with the scout master 5 students attended Jota Joti program conducted by the district Bharath scouts and guides and got awareness on Ham Radio. 9 scouts students will be attending along with the scouts master the International cultural Jamboree which will be held from 21-12-2022 to 27-12-2022 at Alvas Moodbidri. 50000 scouts from 11 foreign countries will be participating in this.
‘JESUITS’ Science Academy
Science club members meet regularly every Thursday in the Science Laboratory. Discussions, quiz, experiments are conducted. On the eve of Independence Day, a science model competition open for all was conducted and prizes were distributed. On 22nd November, an interactive session with the renowned Astrophysicist Dr T. H. Date was organized for the science club members.
They are constantly guided by Mr Donald Saldanha.
‘T.P.KAILASAM’ Dramatic Association
This club is actively functioning under the guidance of Mrs Bharathi N. K. 20 members have enrolled themselves in the present academic year. The club meets every week on Thursday and plan for staging skits, mimes and dramas on different occasions during the year. In the year 2022-23 the members of the club had staged a play based on the life of St Ignitius of Loyola. A skit based on the principles and values of our Patron St Aloysius Gonzaga, A myme show was presented on the occasion of ‘All Faith’s Day’ celebration and a Drama will be staged during our Annual Day.
‘SEDIYAPU KRISHNA BHAT’ Kannada SahityaSangha
Under the guidance of Mr Praveen D. Monteiro students actively participated in various competitions like extempore, handwriting, essay and enacted several plays and dramas on Gonzaga feast, Loyola feast and Annual Day. These programmes were recorded and aired by Radio Sarang of our St.Aloysius College.
‘BERCHMANS’ CLC & Altar Boys Club
The members were served as Altar Boys at the Holy Eucharist Mass celebrated during the weekdays as well as during St. Aloysius Gonzaga feast and St. Ignatius of Loyola feast. Novena prayers were offered with flowers for nine days before the feast of Nativity of B.V, Mary. All members of this club insisted to visit the Chapel every day before coming to school. They are motivated by Mrs Linet Mathias and Mrs Kris Evert D’Souza
‘MID TOWN’ Interact Club
Interact installation ceremony was held in the month of July under the guidance of Rotary Midtown Mangalore and Fr Headmaster. Aditya Shetty has been elected as a president and all others are appointed by the coordinator. Interact members attended a health concern talk conducted by Radio Sarang of Aloysius. Under the leadership of Aditya Shety, the president of Interact attended a talk conducted by Mid-town Rotary Mangalore. All the office bearers of Interact were participated. Rotary Midtown Mangalore and Interact of St Aloysius jointly visited old-age ashram “Mussanje”. Members had presented a nice program which was appreciated by the elders. We thank Headmaster Fr Gerald Furtado S. J. for his direction and support. Club members are guided by co-ordinator Mr Praveen Cutinha
‘NEHRU’ Philatelic Club
35 students of this club participated in the Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana a Philately Scholarship exam. Of which three students, From 9th std D- Thushar, Sherwin and Purvi have qualified for the second round of submitting their project. Results are awaited. The philately and quiz club jointly along with several participants conducted a number of quiz competition among the students.
Mrs Sheryl Rodrigues and Mrs Jovita D’Souza are the co-ordinators of this club.
‘ANTONIO’S’ Art Club
Art club organized painting competition on feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga and Independence Day celebration. Along with Radio Sarang Art Club organized poster competition on the theme of ‘Women Abuse’. Poorvi got 1st place and won cash prize of Rs 1,000/-.

Sanjith first place in Pre-Unique Art competition, Second in Udayavani Art contest, Second in Mother Theresa Vichara Vedike.
Sameeksha third place in Taluk Level Prathiba Karanji Art Competition.
Sanjith & Adithya first place in face painting competition.
Pradyumna – first place in Mother Theresa Vichara Vedike.
Anna Dcosta & Adithi V. Rao – Second place in District Level collage organized by Padua College.

‘ALOYSIAN’ L.T.S. (Leadership Training Service)
School LTS club aims at providing ample opportunities to our club members to inculcate leadership qualities among them.
Lead X – Leadership training programme was held by our Rector Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto S. J. Rector addressed the students how to develop leadership skills. Talk by Dr arranged for the leaders in order to create awareness about the post covid situation – “Swasthya Sankalpa”. Miss Leticia Dcosta, President of St Aloysius College conducted activity based session to LTS members. Radio Sarang organized a talk, related to the environment protection.
Following students participated in a Mock Parliament competition organized by Education Department.

‘PANDURANGA PAI’ Eco Club
World Environment Day was celebrated on June 6th by the members of the Eco Club. On this occasion students of this acted a skit depicting the importance of nature and also Collage competition conducted to the students. A cleanliness drive was carried out in the school campus by the club member. Guarden of the school is maintained by club members. In order to create waste management awareness students were trained to separate the dry and wet waste in their houses. Members of the club visit to the Al-Vana and also shown interest to plant sapling in Al-Vana maintained by SAACA. Students visited to the Vermi-Compost bin to study about compost management and they shown interest to prepare the compost in their houses by following different methods.
These were guided by Mrs Edna Mascarenhas.
‘IGNATIAN’ Gavel Club
Any programme is not complete without a Master of Ceremony. The members of Gavel Club play an important role of being the master of ceremonies in almost all the celebration in the school. Students exhibit their talents through communication skills and public speaking in various programmes of the school such as Feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga, Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola, Teachers day, Annual Day etc.
Following students have taken part in the Inter-school competitions and won prizes-
Naomi Mascarenhas – 2nd place in Elocution held at Sharada Vidyalaya
Cimantha Tauro – 3rd place in Elocution held at Sharada Vidyalaya and 1st place in Elocution ‘SPARKLE’ – Padua P.U. College .

‘GONZAGA’ Consumer Club
Food adulteration test, awareness on consumers rights, knowledge on quality control, MRP, ISI, AGMARK, Hallmark etc. were explained during the meetings. Mr. Francis Mascarenhas Co-coordinates the club.
‘ETHEL PRABHU’ Quiz Club
Several teams participated in the Inter School and Departmental quiz competitions. Canara PU College, Mangalore Sea side and St Aloysius PU College were some of the competition the students participated. Ajaya Bhat and Cimantha Tauro were on Television conducted by DaijiWorld Udupi.In the departmental quiz competitions Moh. Faheez Sheeyan of 8E was the winner and received a cash amount of Rs 500/-. Dhruva and Mohammad Faheez Sheeyan bagged the first place at ‘SPARKLE’ Inter School competition at Paduva PU College.
The members are guided by Mrs Sheryl Rodrigues and Mrs Kris Evert DSouza.
‘STEVE JOBS’ I.T Club
During Regular meeting students were demonstrated with coding, video editing and animation. Quiz and phtotoshop collage competition was held for the members. “Footprint” organized by Canara Collegen, Tushar K. and Vaishali K. participated in the web designing, Gordon Sartho and Aanchal Dcosta participated in Typo Master competition. Gordon Sartho secured second place.
Along with club Co-ordinators Mrs Linet Mathias and Mrs Sunitha Pais, todays Annual Report has been picturized with videos and clippings by our creative IT Club members –Jishnu Shetty and Oscar Mendonca.
‘MELODY’ Choir CLUB
Under the guidance of Mrs. Renny Vas, Melody choir club has been instrumental in setting a spiritual tone for all our programmes with apt interactions and prayerful hymns. Herschel D’Souza was elected as President and Adhishree was elected as Secretary. Students have taken part in all interschool competitions and have bagged many prizes.
Achievements:
- Herschel D’Souza and Ashlyn Lobo had participated in reality show ‘Jigi Bigi Tara’ organized Daijiworld T.V. Herschel D’Souza made a way till the Semi finals of the show.
- Herschel D’Souza & Adhishree had also participated ‘Voice of Fame 2022’ organized by DRASPER STUDIO LLP and entered grand finale round and Herschel D’Souza secured runner up.
- Adhishree participated in the Group Singing and folk competition organized by the Canara P.U. College, ‘Foot Prints 2022’ State level interschool fest. Our melody club students secured 3rd place both group singing and folk song.
‘ST ALOYSIUS’ College Band
The special attraction in our 112 year old College band is the entry of the girls. The band performed at functions and events like sent St Aloysius feast, St Ignatius Loyola feast, Independence day, Sports day, NCC silent drill, Annual school day and Foundation day. The band master is Mr J. R. Furtado and the coordinator is Mr Praveen D. Monteiro.
‘BEATS N STEPS’ Dance Club
To the beat of the music dancers sway their hip, feet and hands rythmatically enthralling one and all. They have exhibited their dancing talents on feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga and St Ignatius of Loyola. The students of this club participated inter-school competitions like Pre-Unique at St Aloysius P. U. College, Sparkle at Padva College and Foot Print by Canara College. The students danced a prayer dance on inter faith prayer which was held at our school hall.

‘ANGELO MAFFAI’ Konkani Club
The club offers a wide variety of co-curricular activities to the students such as, public speaking, creative writing and poetry recitation. The club members have actively participated in a variety competition conducted by Konkani Bhasha Mandal on 26th Aug 2022, held at Don Bosco Hall Mangalore. Vivel DSouza, Herchal DSouza, Joel Dcosta, Vinod Santhumayor, Simran DSouza, Rishel DSouza, Roschelle, Johan participated in it and bagged the first prize and Vivel DSouza secured best MC.
Ashlyn Lobo and Eldon Rishon DSouza participated in Konkani poetry recitation competition organized by Kavita Trust and Daiji TV and Eldon received 4th place in the competition. St Aloysius College Konkani Association organized a unique programe ‘Tiatr’ on 25th of November and our student Hershal DSouza and Ashlyn Lobo selected to be a part of it. They had performed in the programe. Members are Co-ordinated by Mrs Felcy Lobo.
‘KAIRANNA’ Health Club
Club Co-ordinators Mr Noel Menezes and Mr Praveen Cutinha
First meeting was held in the month of June . The total 62 members were attended. Srinivas of 10th E elected as a president for the year 2022-23. With the help of a coordinator Mr Noel Menezes arranged yoga training to our health club members. Health club has conducted health training camp with the collaboration of Sarang.
UNIQUE PROGRAMMES
- Orientation programme was held in the month of June for the students of 8th 9th and 10th. Prof. Ronald Pinto and Mrs Rajeshwari Shetty were the Resource persons.
- Talents day for std 8th 9th and 10th was organized. Students exhibited their talents in dance, singing , mimicry, Extempore and fancy dress.
- The Investiture ceremony was taken place for the formation of new ‘student cabinet’ for the academic session.
- TRICOLOUR, A Confluence of intra school performances on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav’ was held.
- To unplug from the pulls and pushes of daily life, a staff tour was organized to Agra, Delhi and Amritsar
- To inculcate values of religious equality in thoughts, deeds and words, Inter – Faith prayer service was organized. Rev. Dr Sandeep Theophil, Alumnus of our institution, addressed the gathering on the topic of ‘religious tolerance and harmony’.
- On the occasion of children’s day the staff decided to enthrall the children with a stage programme. Apart from dance, song and a skit, a cricket match took place.
- Mr Rajesh Shetty, Alumnus, senior divisional controller KSRTC Mangalore division, was the chief guest on the Sports Day for the inaugural ceremony and Mr Shashank Rai, Alumnus, Indian Basketball player and officer Karnataka State Forest Department was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The students exhibited their skills in athletics, Mass Drill and March Past.
. ***A one day picnic was organized for std 10th students for a little relaxation away from their academics.

Parents, are our pillar and strength. Mr Sunil Bajal, the Vice president of the P.T.A along with the executive members celebrated Teacher’s Day with games, entertainment and a sumptuous dinner.
I wish to thank all our parents and especially the PTA executive body for their presence and constant support on Sports day and School day.
My gratitude goes out to, all those who are present here today to share our joy and to be a part of the ongoing process of education. We are committed towards moulding our students as “people for others” who will grow into young men and women.We look to our patron, St. Aloysius, who stands tall as a supreme example of selfless service and we thank Almighty God for all His gifts, graces and blessings.
